GG Shrug

I haven't been getting much craft time but managed to squeeze the gorgeous GG Shrug in for Laura's birthday next month. The pattern is from the lovely Bec at Woolaholics and is great. The gorgeous yarn is from Vanessa at Monsoon designs and it is utterly lush. I am happy to say I managed a HD and a credit on my last 2 assignments, waiting on another one atm....................

Scarlett is 2!

Scarlett turned 2 today! We had a nice day at home. Dad and Renata came over for a visit. Luckily I wasn't rostered to work today and put all study aside. I did sit up last night finishing some of Scarlett's pressies.

This is a rush job elephant. I made the felt a while ago and have been wanting to make an elephant. The rushed stitching works well, I think it adds that extra shabby feel to it and most importantly Scarlett loves it.

I also bought the seamless baby kimino pattern from Jackik and used some yummy dk from The Yarn Cafe. The colourway is 'sienna'. I am really pleased with how it looks and love the pattern, especially for up late last minute knitting!

I am banning myself from CO anything else atm as I have some assignments to work on. Hopefully this will help me to get stuck in and finish them. As long as I can resist my stash..................................................

Jay's socks

I have been working on these for a while. Mooska from Woolaholics suggested the pattern to me a while ago. It is the 'just yer basic sock' pattern. I adore the yarn which is 4ply polwarth merino in 'Brassica' from The Yarn Cafe. Jay likes them too.

My 'something new' project

Since Lucky1 has now received this I thought I would put it on my Blog. This was the first Woolaholics swap. I joined in on. I made a french market bag. I have never knit a bag or felted a knit before. I added something new from toblerone, The yarn cafe and dyelicious.

Knit picks

I got some goodies recently from the lovely Kel at Dyelicious! A knit picks set, a couple of extra interchangeable needles in harmony, a sock needle set in harmony, some lush stitch counters and a row counter bracelet. I am happy with the lot and as always Kel's customer service was great.

Something new swap

Woohoo! I am so lucky. I have just received my first ever swap from woolaholics and I love it! The swap was 'something new' and Tanya has made me a cabled mug cozy - her first cabled project and some lush dashing - her first kettle dyed yarn. I can't wait to knit with it the colours are beautiful. Now to decide what to make.........
Woolaholics is such a great site with lovely, talented and generous people. I have been delayed with posting mine due to work and study but it will be sent tomorrow. Fortunately I am not the only one running a little late. I will take some pics tonight before I send it off.

Warrick scarf

It was my mum's birthday last month and I made her this scarf. The pattern was suggested to me by the lovely Loopitylou. I substituted the Noro yarn with cleckheaton vintage hues after admiring the lizard ridge blankets made by some woolaholics. Mum is happy with it and I like it so much I am thinking of making myself one. Not that I have any time to atm.

I still only have one of Jays socks made. So busy with uni and work it isn't funny. I managed to make 4 little hats for the guardian angel woolaholics group organised by Jacki. I sent them late though. Just can't keep up.

I really must cast on for the 'something new' swap. I am nearly finished the assignment I am working on so think I might cast that on soon. Hope my swapee likes what I have chosen.

I have had some good crafty purchases of late. I bought a knit picks set from the lovely Kel at Dyelicious and have just orderred a few more goodies from her too. I will have to take some pics. I have also got some more wool from the yarn cafe and some other goodies.

One down and one to go!

School jumpers that is. I finished Imogens last night and am pretty happy with it. It will keep her warmer at school anyway. I plan a wee break before starting Josies.

I have just cast a dishcloth on for my Nanna and will probably make her a couple. I also want to make mum a scarf for her birthday and some more socks. Then I will get stuck into Josies.

I also am going to cast on Helena and join in on the July KAL at woolaholics. I will make this for Laura.

Rainbow dragon

Woot! I finished Josies birthday presents in time. I made her a doll like her sisters and dressed him in winter woolies. She has named him Alex and is well pleased with him.

I also made her a rainbow dragon which I got the kit for from Winterwood. I think he turned out well. The other girls all want one too.

I am nearly finished Imogens school jumper. I have resisted casting anything else on because I need to make Josie a school jumper too and would like them to get a wear out of them this winter LOL! I also have an assignment to finish this week. I think I might need a different project or two between the jumpers though because they are a little boring. So I am planning some socks for Jay and a scarf for my mum.

Wee peggy

A couple of weeks ago we went out to the Back to Back competition. It is a knitting and spinning event to be seen! Basically they sheer the sheep, spin the wool and knit a jumper to see out of two teams of eight who can get it done first. They also have a number of stalls and raise money for a charity. All the funds this year went to the cancer council. It was a lovely day. I got to get some wool and fleece, the girls got some finger puppets, Jay got some cakes and goodies lol!. Best of all I won the raffle and got myself a Wee peggy. So now I really need to learn to spin. I have had a few attempts but have a long way to go. Isn't she beautiful!

This week I joined a KAL at woolaholics and made my very first pair of socks. They are quite bright! I used 8ply berry swirl from Susannes house of wool and the Thuja pattern. I am hooked on socks now.

I have just 2 more weeks until I am back to work and study and have no idea how I will fit any craft in. Thank goodness the course will be finished in a year and I can then reduce my hours to suit me and the family. We are surviving the cold but will probably head back up the coast when I have finished and gained a little experience. Josie is missing her old school and Jay is missing the salt water.

Mmmm Noro

So I gave in and got some Noro. I made the multi-directional scarf and love it. I have another ball and am thinking fingerless mitts. I am hooked. It is so nice. I also made myself a lace edged hat moddelled by my beautiful eldest babe.

Atm I am working on school jumpers. I am using cascade 220. I didn't order enough though so have put another order in and couldn't help but get some Noro sock yarn and some magazines aswell.

I am hanging out for tax return time as I have been admiring the knit picks sets. They are so pretty. I have finally got the hang of dpns and am ready to take on socks. So I have ordered two sock club slots on yarn collective. I think I will get a couple more too as I couldn't make up my mind. The new soaker club is very tempting too.

I need to restrict my craft time now though as I got in to the Student midwife program!! I am so happy about that. I start next month. I will need some more text books soon and will be busy with work, study and my babes. I will enjoy this month crafting though.

Scarletts rainbow bell bottoms

I made these up with the lovely yarn I got from Susannes house of wool. I am really happy with how they turned out and more importantly so is Scarlett. Now I have to decide what to make with the other skein. I originally thought I would make 2 pairs of longies. Now I can't make up my mind.

Jay is pleased with his scarf and he looks good in it too! It matches his car so what more could he want? He isn't used to wearing a scarf but as we head into winter at our new address I think he will be needing it.

Josies old teacher Allie had a baby girl a couple of nights ago so I made her a newborn soaker. So teeny tiny aaaww! Josie also wants to make her a mobile. We are all really missing her and the school.
I need to finish Josies birthday presents and I have some yarn to make the girls some school jumpers too............................

Busy,busy busy!!

We have been so busy! We moved and are settling in well now. We had alot of work fixing up the new house. Actually it is a WIP. LOL!

I have applied for a student midwife program which will commence late June(fingers tightly crossed) until then I am at home - Woohoo!!

I have been having a bit of a wooly shopping spree. I got some lovely hand dyed yarn from susannes house of wool and some stitch markers. I started some bell bottom longies for Scarlett in rainbow last night.

I also went to my LYS and got some Noro, Jo Sharp and some freedom spirit. Yesterday I made an order at the wool shack for some debbie Bliss cotton, some Rowan and Cascade wools.

I also scored a wool winder and spinning book on ebay! I really have had some buying fun this week. Our local markets are on this weekend too......................

I have made Imogen and Josie some beanies. Josies is the blue one ofcourse. I have put it away for her birthday parcel. I put a crochet flower on Imogens. I am just finishing a scarf off for Jay. I used the Jo Sharp aran tweed for it. I am half way through a rainbow felt dragon for josies birthday too. I also need to make her a steiner doll like I made the other girls. She has requested a boy one. When I finish Scarletts pants I think it will be time to make myself something. Noro scarf and gloves?? clapotis??

We are moving

Well I really am hopeless at keeping a Blog. I have been so busy though it just isn't funny. We are moving!!! I am hoping to get into a student midwife program. The intakes are June and January each year. Our house sold in 3 days and I have taken that as a sign. I finished up at work on the weekend. It was sad to say goodbye but I am looking forward to new adventures. The girls are sad to be leaving their school too but can't wait for the plane ride lol!

So have I had much time for craft?? Well I have made the girls some felt bunnies for Easter and an arcadia doll for Scarlett. I knitted a bunny for our neice aswell. I have really been enjoying reading again too atm. Most of my craft stuff is now packed.

I also made Jay a beanie in preperation for the colder climate we are moving to. Imogen turned 5 in february and I made her a doll.
